"The Lord is the strength of our life" (Part 5)

Hello all,
Hope you are enjoying these summer days! Today we will look at Psalm 27:11-14-
"Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord."
This is such an awesome passage of Scripture to me, and I love that we have had the chance to really look at it in depth together! Today as we look at the last 4 verses, focus on how God can change you through this beautiful Psalm.
Verse 11 is a cry for help that we should all have.  David is asking God to teach him and lead him along the path that God has for him.  He also says at the end of the verse, "because of mine enemies", this is a truth that we all need to learn- we have to allow God to guide us, because if we do not we will fall prey to the enemy (the devil) and possibly begin going opposite of what God has for us.  David may not have been speaking of the devil as his enemy in this text, he had several earthly enemies in his life trying to destroy him, but as Christians, our biggest enemy is ---the devil.
He goes on in verse 12 to ask God to not allow what the enemies in his life wanted for him because what they wanted is cruel.  The devil wants cruelty for us.  Try praying that God would not allow the devil to get what he wants in your life and ask God to help you stay close to Him!
David explains his feelings in verse 13 and oh how many times do you feel like you are fainting or going under in this life? Remember just as David did, that God is still with you and that HE will prevail.  Don't ever give up or give in....keep pressing onward with what you know God wants you to do even if it is the smallest step.  Everyday you face decisions, think about what God would want you to do in those small decisions as well as the big decisions.
Verse 14 is great...it says to wait on God, keep the faith that He will do what He says He will do, and then if you do that, God will give you strength to wait for what He has planned for you!
I hope you have enjoyed our study of Psalm 27 and I hope you will continue to read it and keep it close to your heart as it gives so many truths about our walk as Christians.

If you do not know for sure that you are a Christian, continue reading below,

1. Realize that God loves you
John 3:16-"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
2. Realize that you are a sinner.  Sins are anything that you do that is wrong, examples are lying, lusting, being jealous, etc.
Romans 3:23- "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
3. Know that you are a lost sinner.  Realize that you need Jesus to get to Heaven.  Nothing you do is good enough.  Sin must be paid for, but Jesus paid the price for sin.
Romans 6:23- "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (You must accept that gift)
4. Believe that God sent Jesus, His Son, into the world, and believe that He died on a cross to take the punishment for your sins and then rose from the dead 3 days later.
Romans 5:8- "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Matthew 28:6-"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
5. Ask God to forgive you of your sins, and ask Him to enter into your life and save you.
Romans 10:9-10- "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Acts 2:21-"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
If you do that or have done that already, you are a child of God and you have begun your journey of following God's plan for your life.
